Solutions to the questions in Quiz 1 are here.
The criteria for satisfying the standards are explained in the table below. Each standard is determined from one or more of the quiz questions. The second column of the table identifies the questions used to score each standard. The third column reports the total number of points available in those questions. The last column gives the points needed to satisfy the standard.
| Standard | Questions | Total points | Cutoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1–3 | 3 | 3 |
| 2 | 4, 5 | 2 | 1.8 |
| 3 | 6 | 6 | 5 |
| 4 | 7 | 4 | 4 |
| 5 | 8, 9 | 2 | 1.8 |
| 6 | 10, 11 | 4 | 4 |
| 7 | 12, 13 | 4 | 3.6 |
I put in an incorrect equality between feet and meters. It should be 1 meter = 3.28 feet, but I seem to have fat-fingered 3.218 feet. I apologize for that error; I tried to give credit to students who used either number. If you lost points for using either of these feet-to-meters conversions, let me know so that I can give you the credit you are due.
When this question references “Question 7,” that should have been Question 9. Nobody asked about this typo during the quiz, so I hope that you all knew what I meant.
Each question was graded using Gradescope, and the scores for the standards were calculated using a spreadsheet. There were opportunities for error at all steps of the scoring process. Please verify that your answers were graded correctly. Also check that you got credit for the standards that you satisfied. If you think a grade or score was assigned improperly or erroneously, please contact Dr. Barrans. The best way is through UW email; he might not see regrade requests on Gradescope right away.
